ENTERCOM Hot AC WBZZ (100.7 STAR)/PITTSBURGH jump started the new school year by once again partnering with the city's THE EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP and enlisting BAZZY & BUBBA's Backpack Brigade to collect backpacks for students in need. The final tally was 2,827 backpacks (!) and some extra-generous listeners snuck much needed supplies into some of the bags as well, bringing the total money raised to more than $92,000.
STAR'S morning driver BUBBA, teams up with local car dealer BAZZY and does his show from the dealership, which turns into the drop off point and the place where listeners get to mingle with the station's air personalities.
Executive Director of THE EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP, JOSH WHITESIDE said, "It is nothing short of inspiring to see the community rally around such a meaningful, impactful, and FUN event. All day long we met people from companies of all sizes who felt connected to our mission, which will help tremendously in advancing our mission."
THE EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP will distribute the backpacks and school supplies, and will end up providing supplies to 45,000 area students.
This is the fourth and biggest year for the event.
